The mistake I made with purrfect buns ૮ ◞ ﻌ ◟ ა
Hello! ૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა
I am Mio, an indie solo developer and creator of Pumiko.
I’m usually really shy but I thought it might be nice to share my very first dev log with you all ໒꒰ྀི´ ˘ ` ꒱ྀིა
I just released my first game, Purrfect Buns. I know that the game is pretty simple compared to other games in the site. This is making me kinda embarrassed to be honest. But I decided to post it anyway because I am still learning both game dev and art and I need as many feedbacks as I can.
ᕙ( •̀ ᗜ •́ )ᕗ
I hope this log will be useful for me in the future and for anyone who might stumble across it ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧

The biggest mistake I made during creating purrfect buns was making the game way too difficult (∩˃o˂∩)♡
Even my friends, who are better at games than me, found it really hard! (╥‸╥)
I played the game daily and became too familiar with the game that I thought it would be fun to increase the speed by 2x, thinking it would make it more exciting.
Since I played it every day, I didn't feel like it was too fast to me. But for first-time players, it was overwhelming, and they struggled to keep up.
Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the gameplay:
After 21 different tries, I finally settled on what I think is "good enough," but it still feels slow to me. I’m feeling a bit doubtful that I’ve found the right balance between challenge and playability, so I’ll be looking out for feedback on this.
I also thought of some ideas to help me improve next time:
୨୧ Make different difficulty levels.
୨୧ Make the difficulty increase overtime.
୨୧ Make an option for input sensitive in the settings.
